Fluoride intake is most critical for infants and children between the ages of six months and 16 years because this is the time period when “baby teeth” fall out and are replaced with permanent teeth. However, fluoride is also important in adults to prevent tooth decay and further strengthen teeth.

Many people have fluoride deficiency, which puts teeth at a greater risk for cavities. You can get fluoride naturally from tap water and mouth rinses. Also, be sure you’re using toothpaste that contains fluoride.

During your next checkup at Duck Prairie Dental Care, we can determine whether your teeth would benefit from a fluoride supplement. If we find that your teeth could use a boost, we’ll recommend some simple solutions. In our office, we have a specialized fluoride mouth rinse available in many flavors. If your fluoride levels are extremely low, we may recommend a fluoride supplement.
